Hey guys!
Is it just me or is December January moving too fast? (omg I actually had a brain fart and thought it was December for a minute…???) Where is the time going? I don’t know!?!?
Anyway, between school work and wrestling I’ve found some time to do some reading! Yay!
I’m currently on page 390/689 of Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Mass (which was one of the books on by TBR, and a re-read), and I have less than an hour left on the audiobook of A Midsummer’s Nightmare by Kody Keplinger (it’s also a re-read/listen for me… and you can see my original review here).
Both of these were 5 star reads for me the first time around, and so far those ratings haven’t changed! These are two of my favorite books!
As for my life, classes are going pretty well. I also got inducted into the Cum Laude Society (!!!!) which was cool but I also managed to look ridiculous because I had no idea how dressed up the other inductees were going to be:
So basically I was rocking jeans, Uggs, and a sweater. So classy. (But really I felt so awkward and out-of-place the whole time.. please someone go back and save me)
I mean seriously though, I had classes with two of the girls before the ceremony and they were wearing normal clothes and I thought that they weren’t going to get dressed up and then they did a sneak-attack change and left me ALL ALONE. *dies of mortification*
Also, for those of you who have been reading my blog for a while, you might have noticed that I dyed my hair blonde!! That happened on Christmas day in my brother’s bathroom, and yes, I dyed his hair too! It was so much fun and I love how it turned out (thank you 3 hours of YouTube!)
Anyway, I still haven’t gotten into college, I’m covered in bruises from wrestling (although I feel so amazing and empowered and show them off to anyone and everyone), and I have actually been getting enough(ish) sleep for once in my life. And that’s how the New Year has been going so far.
Talk to me!
First, I’d really appreciate some feedback on the whole weekly update thing. Do we like this? Not like this? Should I make these a regular thing? What else would you want to see in them?
Secondly, HOW HAS YOUR NEW YEAR BEEN?!? What books are you reading? What new releases are you excited for? Has anything fun/interesting/exciting/terrible/mortifying/etc. happened to you lately?
Also, I haven’t had a lot of time to keep up with reading blogs lately, so feel free to leave a link to your latest blog post down below so I can check it out!
Thanks for reading!!
Omg you wrestle? That is so awesome!!! I’ve never met a girl who wrestled before so you’re like a breath of fresh air. Hahahah that seems like such a serious (possibly secret??) society. Is that a single lonely guy I am seeing in the picture? How serious is this society anyway? But your faux pas is something to laugh about not be embarrassed about. One time I was in my humanities class and the teacher was discussing the show Vikings and when he asked our opinion on the show I basically answer, ”Well I like how realistic it is and the guy in it is really beautiful”. There was a huuuuge silent and after that the teacher actually said ”well, well, someone has a crush”
SOOO EMBARRASSING.
And yes, these updates are cool 🙂

I do wrestle!! I started this year and honestly it has been the best decision of my life (even if I am covered in bruises all the time!).
I’m honestly confused by the whole Cum Laude thing. It’s supposed to be the top 10% of the class (which I guess I’m in), but other than getting a little pin I don’t get what the point is.
And OMG that sounds so embarrassing! Today at dinner in the dining hall I was talking with one of my wrestling team-mates about practice and one of the other guys was like “stop flirting you two, we have to go.” He said it in a totally joking way, but it was still so awkward!

Hmmm was it awkward because you liked the guy?

It was awkward because I didn’t like him!!! Ahhhh… also nobody really said anything after that and they just left and it was so weird!

I think your blog was one of the first ones I followed back when I started blogging in June and I am SO HAPPY you are back! I like the updates! Honestly, it shows us a bit more about a blogger and it’s simply fun to read.
I can totally imagine you feeling out of place the whole time though. I would’ve had the exact same! Actually, I had the same once, sort of.. Family stuff and everybody was dressed up. So was I. BUT. For some reason they all decided to go black on me? All dressed in black and no, it was NO funeral. There I was rocking a bright red dress. Spotlight anyone..?

Thank you ❤️ that really means a lot!
And ahhh! I hate when things like that happen! Would it kill anyone to give ya a heads up?

You’re welcome! ❤
I don't even know if THEY had planned that.. It just turned out that way, haha. Ever since I've been making sure my boyfriend is pretty much dressed to match me whenever we have to go to get-togethers like that. No more spotlight on me alone, haha.

What a great way to do it! Then if everyone wears black again it will be super easy to spot him in the crowd!!

Exactly! And we’ll be the odd ones together, which is way better than being the only one!

definitely weekly updates!!!! 🙂
i like you hair and i think it was a lot of fun doing that with your brother haha 😀
and i get the feeling you had. i would be embarrased to, even though i am not much of a person who cares what other people think how i look. but in that situation i would feel the same. the good thing though, it’s over and you won’t have to go through with this again 😀

Yay! I’m glad you like them!!
And it was so fun dying our hair! It was terrifying in the beginning (because once you start putting bleach in, there is no going back), but it was a really fun experience in the end!
And yes! The ceremony is over and hopefully I won’t have anything like that again!! Throughout the whole think I was just thinking “it’s okay… it’s not a big deal… I’m technically in dress code…” but I still felt super out of place?

Haha yeah I really did stand out!
And yes!! I started wrestling this year and it has been so amazing so far! There is one other girl on the team (who is one of my best friends… we joined together), and the guys are all really great and supportive!

Love the weekly update!
I plan on rereading Empire of Storms myself this year– my second book of the year was a reread of Throne of Glass, and I have Crown of Midnight ready to go– and I think I read A Midsummer’s Nightmare many moons ago. I’m currently reading Scythe by Neal Schusterman because I’ve seen it EVERYWHERE in the book blogging communities– bookstagram, Booktube, WordPress, etc.- and decided to give it a go (the hype is real, this book is so good!).

Yay! Throne of glass re-reads!! Aren’t the books so amazing?!
I’ve also seen Scythe everywhere, but I haven’t gotten a copy quite yet. I think I probably will soon though. It sounds so good!

Yes!! I love Throne of Glass (and basically anything that SJM writes).
And Scythe is definitely meeting the hype for me, I started reading it last night and I”m already halfway through!

I have yet to read the Courts series from SJM, but they are next on my list to read! I am so excited to start them!!
I’ll definitely have to get to Scythe soon! I can’t wait to hear what you think about it when you are finished!
