My TBR has gotten huge.
Yeah, some people have bigger ones, but as a person who likes to pretend their life is organized, I need to start cleaning up this list before it overwhelms me (more than it already has).
When I came across Lia’s Down the TBR Hole post, it was the motivation I needed to finally get this corner of my life into some sort of shape.
Here is how this TBR cleaning works:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
I don’t know if I’ll be able to do this every week, but I’m going to try!
Let’s cleanse this monstrosity:
1. The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
Added to my TBR on: May 9, 2013
Looking at this book again, after so many years of not remembering it existed, my first thought was: “This one is totally going.”
Then I read the description, and even though it is a vampire book, and I am over my whole vampire phase, I find myself strangely wanting to read this book… badly.
Verdict: Staying
Goodreads
2. Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins
Added to my TBR on: May 9, 2013
I actually read this book before I put it on my TBR, so I guess I wanted to re-read it? I don’t remember much about this witch-y magical book other than I liked it… when I read it way back when. I don’t know if I am ever going to pick this one up again, but after reading the synopsis, I am yet again intrigued.
Verdict: Staying

*You’re probably figuring out by now how much of a hoarder I am….
3. Need by Carrie Jones
Added to my TBR on: May 9, 2013
I added this book to my TBR not because I necessarily wanted to read it, but because Carrie Jones came to my school for an author talk. It’s never really interested me, and I honestly have no idea why I’ve kept it around for this long.
Verdict: Going

4. The Lying Game by Sara Shepard
Added to my TBR on: May 9, 2013
Despite not being able to get into the TV show, I did enjoy the one PLL book I read. I’m pretty sure that’s why I put this book on my TBR. The synopsis still does sound interesting to me, but, if I’m being completely honest here, I don’t think I’m ever going to realistically pick this book up.
Verdict: Going
Goodreads
5. Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz
Added to my TBR on: May 9, 2013 (I was obviously a busy little bookworm that day…)
And another vampire book. WOOOOOWWWWW.
This one has a cool spin on it: the vampies came over on the Mayflower and have been guarding their secret for hundreds of years. I probably would have loved this book back in ’13, but it interests me no more.
Verdict: Going
Goodreads
AHHH it feels so good to get some books off my ever-growing-list (even if two more are going to grow in their place)
